BASS: Electronic music acts take on Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival

It’s not just alternative rock being showcased at a major yearly music festival in Southern California. Bjork, DJ Shadow, Tiesto, and reigning DJ of the year Paul van Dyk are among the electronic music acts slated to perform at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival from April 27-29 in the town of Idio, Calif., event organizers announced

Bjork, who has performed at Coachella before, plays along with DJ Shadow and Felix The Housecat during the camping and music festival’s opening day of Friday, April 27, at the Empire Polo Field. Opening day at the alt-rock, hip hop, and electronic event will also include the legendary Sonic Youth.

Tiesto is a headliner on Saturday with DJ Heather offering support. On Sunday, French downtempo electronic band Air headlines on a day when van Dyke also plays and The Coup represents Oakland, Calif.

Tickets, which are priced at $85 for one day and $249 for a three-day pass, went on sale Saturday, Jan. 27, when organizers also launched a new website here.
