BASS:
Ragga Drum & Bass drives Top Cat’s new album 'Two Veterans'
Top Cat, a longtime MC
whose ragga style delivery has influenced the UK Drum & Bass scene
for a decade, is releasing a new album Two
Veterans: Tenor Fly meets Top Cat in June. In an unusual move,
copies of the CD are already available on the Internet a full six
months before its release date.
Two Veterans is
described as a collection of brand new mixes of classic tracks and new
lyrics from two legends of Drum & Bass. After hearing a few tracks,
we think this album’s quirky enough to blow up beyond the insular UK
scene and will appeal to Americans looking for something different to
kick off their 2007 library with.
The new album isn’t slated to hit record stores worldwide until June 5.
However, we found it posted here
on website CD Baby, where users can order pre-release copies and hear
samples from tracks like Shout Bawl
Out, Sound Inna Danger and Live
Your Dreams. If those teasers aren’t enough, you can also check
out this
smoking hot video.
Top Cat is the founder of 9 Lives Records label, which has featured
artists like Tenor Fly, Daddy Freddy,
Prento Youth, Tad Hunter, Carlene Clarke, Nerious Joseph, Chronical,
Simpleton, Robbie Valentine, Vivian Jones and Mike Anthony.
