WORD: S’Indie Awards, urban literature at forefront of Self-Published Authors Symposium in NYC

Urban literature is expected to have a strong presence at the Self-Published Authors Symposium in New York City on Mar. 12, 2006, where a series of marketing workshops and the 2005 S’Indie Awards winner will be announced at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Event organizers said that panelists include Manie Barron, a former William Morris agent and co-founder of literary agency Menza-Barron, and Vickie Stringer, author/owner of Triple Crown Publications who has often been dubbed the Queen of Urban Fiction.

Attending authors can submit titles for the first annual S’Indie Awards by sending two copies of their work along with a brief synopsis, author bio. and genre category. The award targets African-American independent publishers, self-publishers and authors. Eight category winners will be chosen based on literary excellence, quality, production and originality.

Registration at Self-Published Authors Symposium costs $150.00 and includes entry to the S’Indie Awards. Further information is at http://www.aspicomm.com/Events.html
