Variety Launches ‘The Biz’ social networking website
If you’re looking to schmooze online with entertainment industry
participants, a new "in" might have opened up now that leading
entertainment news publication Variety launched an interesting new
message board and networking website "The Biz."
Calling it the
"first social networking site for entertainment professionals and
enthusiasts in the US," Variety expects "The Biz" will serve as an
online meeting space for media and entertainment professionals to
network, pitch products, exchange ideas, and search for jobs among
peers and industry experts.
The site also offers a vehicle for employers to recruit new talent and
target candidates by specific interests, skills and experience on
Variety's platform, which it said is the top destination for
entertainment news and information.
"The Biz" in its beta launch will encompass careers, community and
content where users will be able to upload profiles, photos,
portfolios, videos and more to connect with each other.
"We are thrilled to be launching ‘The Biz,’ said Variety president and
publisher Neil Stiles in a
press release. "This site will give our readers a unique new way to
interact and forge relationships with their peers in the community."
"‘The Biz’ gives people a new opportunity to have a voice on
Variety.com," said Jennifer Glen,
Variety's Vice President and Sales Director. "Leveraging the web to
build relationships and make connections in this industry is a natural
next step."
