BASS:
No suspects in Paul Van Dyk concert shooting death
Police have no suspects after a man was shot dead at San Francisco
club 1015 Folsom early Sunday morning, a tragic close to a night when
German star DJ Paul Van Dyk
played the venue’s main floor, according to press reports and party
promoters.
Hao Tri Tu, 29, was shot
in the chest at 3:30 am at the popular SOMA club’s basement level. A
second man was reportedly shot in the elbow and taken to San Francisco
General Hospital.
The basement at 1015 is where add-on parties often take place, while
the club’s main room showcases large acts such as Van Dyk, who has
played 1015 at least three times since October 2005. The basement is
also where people check their coats.
"I was with my friends standing at the coat check and ready wrap up the
night when I heard two gun shots," Carlos
Machato told KTVU Channel 2.
"We thought it could have been fireworks... but next thing we see is
people scattering and there ended up being a corpse on the ground. The
cops rushed toward him, checked his pulse and did what they had to do"
as Tu was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gun violence is rare at Trance and Techno events, and door security at
1015 typically includes pat downs for weapons. WORD’N’BASS.com has
heard some unusual rumors about Sunday’s shooting, which we will not
report until police officials confirm or deny those details.
WORD’N’BASS.com sends its condolences to Tu’s family.
