BASS: Sasha bags Grammy nomination, tours North America Longtime trance and downtempo DJ and producer Sasha was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Remixed Recording" category, according to his promoter. Sasha – best known for his collaborative trance parties with Digweed – was nominated for his remix of Felix da Housecat’s Watching Cars Go By, which appears on Sasha’s 2004 album Involver. We hear Sasha mixed a surprise set at West Hollywood club Prey on Sunday, Feb. 13, after the Grammys. Since then, he performed to a packed house at San Francisco club Ruby Skye on Friday, Feb. 25, and continues his North American tour with monthly shows from March to June that will trade off between Los Angeles club Avalon and New York City’s Crobar. Despite all of Sasha’s critical and commercial success since crossing over to downtempo, we’d still love to catch Sasha and Digweed performing a trance set together at a medium sized club like Ruby Skye, where you can take a steam bath in bass. Speaking of the good old days, Sasha and John Digweed re-released their legendary 1995 trance collaborative effort, Renaissance The Mix Collection – Deluxe Edition in a 10-year anniversary version on Jan. 25. The album includes updated sound and re-mastering by the artists, using modern applications that weren't available 10 years ago for a clearer sound. |
