BASS:
DJ Shadow, Kaskade in ABDJ top 10; voter prizes include Vegas trip,
mixer, headphones
America’s Best DJ Competition has a strong San Francisco Bay Area
connection with locals DJ Shadow
and Kaskade making the top 10.
ABDJ, the only competition where a House music star like Danny Tenaglia goes head-to-head
with turntablists like QBert
and DJ Shadow, announced several prizes available to the public just
for voting.
Pioneer Pro DJ and DJ Times magazine, who are jointly
presenting the competition, announced the following DJs are in the top
10: Danny Tenaglia, DJ Shadow (pictured left), Bad Boy Bill, Z-Trip,
Cedric Gervais, Scotty Boy, DJ Qbert, Kaskade, DJ Enferno and Steve
Porter.
DJ Shadow is widely considered one of America's most influential DJs
who brought Downtempo and Hip Hop beats to both mainstream and
electronic music fans with his breakthrough studio albums The Outsider
(2008), The Private Press (2002) and Entroducing (1996).
Chicago native Kaskade
joined local Downtempo/House music label OM Records when he moved to
San Francisco in 2000. He's since joined Ultra Records, where his
recent mix albums include this year's The Grand and Bring the Night
(2007).
Supporting the online vote, event organizers are in the midst of a
20-city tour -- dubbed America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by
Pioneer Pro DJ -- that’s set to wind down with a closing party/awards
ceremony on September 12 at The Palms Las Vegas’ Rain Nightclub. This
event runs in conjunction with the town’s hottest weekly event -- "Paul
Oakenfold Presents: Perfecto Las Vegas."
To sweeten the pot for voters, the ABDJ prize package just got tastier.
In addition to Pioneer gear giveaways like HDJ-2000 headphones and a
DJM-400 mixer, another lucky voter will be randomly selected for the
grand prize: A trip for two to Las Vegas for the ABDJ Closing Party,
including flight, accommodations and VIP treatment at the event.
