BASS: Halloween Parties galore in
San Francisco with D&B Trance, House represented
Witches and zombies looking for Halloween parties with heavy bass in
the San Francisco area tonight (Saturday, Oct. 29) can rest easy.
Spinmeisters are trampling all over the The City, one of the world’s
hot spots for DJ culture, and party promoters have D&B, Trance and
House music on tap. A devil at SF Raves told us there’s even some
parties for those 18-and-up.
Tantra Halloween has
three rooms with some wicked trance music with DJ Highko of Germany
making his American debut, in an 18-and-over event at The SomArts
Gallery in San Francisco. Consider this an event for the endurance
ravers out there because it runs from 10 pm to 8 am in three rooms.
Other DJs spinning include Ocelot, Mekkanikka and Chromatone. In
addition to two rooms of trance, the obligatory chill out room will
have Rena Jones, Cyril and Geomagnetiv spinning downtempo breaks. The
SomArts Gallery is at 934 Brannan Street. Tickets are $25 presale or
$30 at the door.
In Oakland, they’re having one of those famous blowout parties with
four rooms of bass and dozens of DJs representing Drum & Bass,
Trance, House, Dub and Downtempo at a "secret location." The OtherWorld All Hallows Eve Masquerade
lineup includes Meat Beat Manifesto, DJ M, Pongoid and DJ Malice (who
reps our brothers at SPAZ co-op) R-Type, Koda and twenty other DJs.
Laser light show, visuals, and Kelly Porter performing "live painting,"
which we hope means body painting. $15 at the door, call the info line
at 510-287-5917 for directions. Party runs from 10 pm to 7 am.
Skills and Team Tronic will host Bumpkin
Pumkin at San Francisco club Terra SF with DJs Andy Moor and
Matt Darey from the United Kingdom. Mars and Dyloot will do a special
tag team set, plus SF Enemy. Organizers said capacity is limited to
1,000 at the party, which is open to those 18 and over. Full bar for
those 21 and over and "vegetarian friendly" food. Terra SF is at 511
Harrison Street at 1st. Pre-sale tickets are available at Skillz DJ
Workshop in Berkeley or $40 at the door. Event runs from 9 pm to 4 am.
Over at the Social Club is the Holla’ween
Party, where a half dozen DJs will spin techno, electrohaus and
"booty basslines" from 9 pm to 2 am. DJ lineup includes Qzen, Bryan
James aka Animal Style, Charlotte the Baroness, Alan Keller, DJ Sinned,
Ryan Wilber and Bfamily Soundsystem. The Social Club is at 1751 Fulton
at Masonic in San Francisco. 21 and up.
If you prefer smaller warehouse parties catch Halloween Afterhours’ intimate
warehouse setting with "international DJs taking the sound deep and
dirty." DJs spinning include John Early, Michael Anthony, DJ Seven,
Javi
Cannus of Spain and Rick Sotero of Los Angeles. Organizers say space is
limited to first 180 people at this 21-and-up event. Runs 11 pm to 6am
with a $15 cover at the door. Party is at Diimension 7 Warhouse at 150
Folsom Street between Main and Spear, in San Francisco.
As always, if
you're going to party hard please designate a driver during Halloween
weekend festivities. For example, we're spinning at a house party and
will get trashed. If our girlfriend doesn't pick us up we're passing
out in someon's bath tub to avoid plowing into young goblins... and
pigs.
Also remember to drink water.
