Paul van Dyk ditches LoveParade SF amid fee rumors; more after parties
announced
Techno DJ Paul van Dyk of
Germany withdrew from Loveparade San
Francisco on Saturday amid rumors that he pulled out to protest
a $5 fee organizers are charging the festival’s DJs. LoveParade
organizers sent out a press release Saturday morning denying the rumor
and announced additional afterparties. International stars including Crystal Method, DJ Dan, Goldie and
hundreds of other DJs will perform, organizers noted.
LoveParade's press release from Saturday, Septembre 24 follows...
Loveparade San Francisco is quickly approaching and the buzz is getting
louder and louder as the event nears. This year is shaping up to be a
stellar event with over 250 of the WORLDS BIGGEST DJS performing at the
2nd Annual Loveparade San Francisco tomorrow, September 24th, 2005.
Come and dance to the biggest names in electronic music: Crystal
Method, Carl Cox, Lee Burridge, Ferry Corsten, Bad Boy Bill, Lee
Coombs, DJ Dan, Hyper, Goldie and hundreds more!
The Loveparade San Francisco is promising to be one of the pre-eminent
electronic music events in the world and a landmark event for the U.S.
We would like to dispel any rumors regarding Paul van Dyk’s withdrawal
from the Loveparade San Francisco. This is in no way related to the
Loveparade $5 donation and we regret that he cannot participate due to
circumstances beyond his control. We appreciate Paul’s support of
Loveparade Berlin and Loveparade San Francisco and hope that he can
join us next year in 2006.
**From PaulvanDyk.com:** We regret to inform you that Paul van Dyk will
not be able to perform at Love Parade San Francisco because the float
(PAM DJs : Dance Without Borders) he had been scheduled to perform on
was cancelled on short notice due to circumstances beyond Paul's
control. Paul is very disappointed by this result; he has been a
supporter of and participant in the original Love Parade in Berlin for
many years and he hopes to be in a position to perform at Love Parade
San Francisco next year. Paul will be in San Francisco on Saturday and
will perform at 1015 as planned.

This year’s starting location opens at Noon at 2nd & Market Streets
in Downtown San Francisco. The parade will begin at 1pm parading West
down Market Street to the Civic Center Festival Area. We expect the
first floats to arrive at the Civic Center at 2:30pm with the last
float arriving at 3:30pm.
Loveparade San Francisco is asking for a $5 donation from participants
entering the festival area, which will go to supporting our community
partners and other national non-profit organizations (LPSF is a
non-profit (501-3c) which supports other non-profit organizations).
Once the floats arrive at the festival location they will park on the
grounds and DJs will perform until 9pm.
As you may know San Francisco has very unique weather. September is
normally one of our warmest months but Mother Nature doesn’t always
cooperate so please dress accordingly. At times San Francisco can have
temperatures of high 50s to high 70s and late in the afternoon the fog
has a tendency to roll in. Please dress in layers, wear comfortable
shoes, drink lots of water and bring sun screen.
The Loveparade San Francisco organization urges participants to take
mass transit. The Starting location is one block from the SF Bart
Station off Market Street and there are SF Bart Stations all along the
parade route. For arrival at the Civic Center Festival Area please take
Bart & Muni to the Civic Center Station. This drops you off one
block from the festival area.
