BASS:
DJ Dan, Ed Rush & Optical play ‘Popsicle’ at Bill Graham
Skills lined up a huge cast of House,
Trance and Drum & Bass
talent at a big club rave on Saturday, April 1 at San Francisco’s Bill
Graham Civic Center, where DJ Dan,
Doc Martin and Ed Rush &
Optical smashed the turntables at the ninth annual
Popsicle, an 18-and-over event.
Popsicle, which ran from 9 pm to 4 am, included three large stages
with over 20 of the world’s top electronic dance music DJs. Event
organizers served up plenty of food (including vegetarian) as
well as full bar service for those 21 or older.
Fresh off their monster sets at the Winter Music Conference, Ed Rush & Optical headlined
the Drum & Bass stage, along with Black
Sun Empire, Evol Intent, Noisia, Fury, Bicolas and others, with MC Colonel holding down the mic.
On the Trance stage Blank &
Jones, Rank 1, Signum, Perry O’Neil, Deep Voices and Thomas St. John churned out fast
dance beats.
Meanwhile on the House
stage, DJ Dan (pictured above
by BPM Smith) blew the arena up with one of his lucid Progressive
House sets. Other DJs spnning House included Doc Martin, who’s been recently
jumping from
club performances in Los Angels and New York City, Richard Vission, Colette and Carlos Alfonso.
