WORD:
Alan Greenspan to keynote annual BookExpo America conference
Edited Press Release
The former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Dr. Alan Greenspan,
will kick off BookExpo America’s (BEA’s) author events as Keynote
Speaker on Friday, June 1. Conference organizers had to move
Greenspan’s appearance to a larger venue at the Jacob K. Javits Center
convention Facility due to a very large audience expected for Dr.
Greenspan’s appearance, the BEA said in a press release.
The Conference
Keynote, which is open to all convention attendees, will now be held in
the Special Events Hall at 5:15pm on Friday, June 1.
Dr. Greenspan will be interviewed by Andrea
Mitchell, Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for NBC News, in a
Q & A format. Ms. Mitchell, who is also Dr. Greenspan’s wife, will
lead the discussion about the process of writing Dr. Greenspan’s
eagerly anticipated new book, 'The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a
New World,' being published by The Penguin Press on September 17, 2007.
"We are truly excited to be making this move," said Lance Fensterman, Event Director for
BEA. "We had already planned for a very large turnout for Dr. Greenspan
and we were preparing accordingly. But it quickly became apparent that
no matter how much we planned, there was no way to anticipate the
enormous crowd that is going to be eager to hear Dr. Greenspan speak.
The obvious solution was to throw open the doors in the Special Events
Hall and welcome everyone who will be in the building!"
In addition to the usual ocean of publisher booths and author
appearances that are typical of the annual BEA gathering, there are
dozens of discussions and literary events happening at the Jacob K.
Javits Center convention Facility’s exhibition halls, as well as an
international rights center, where offshore publishers will snap up
American titles.
Also, The sixth annual BEA/Writer’s Digest Books Writers Conference
will be held May 30, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.
For further information on all the events, check out the BEA website.
