Charles Bukowski returns with HarperCollins
HarperCollins announced it is releasing another book of new poems from
legendary author Charles Bukowski
(1920-1994), with Come On In!
published this month in hardcover through imprint Ecco. The late
Bukowski authored more than 45 brilliant and crazy books of poetry and
prose that catalogued his struggles with poverty, alcohol and women.
Bukowski is considered one of the most influential poets of the last
century for his rhythmic, unconventional style, and many artists point
to him as giving voice to the poor and downtrodden.
He’s probably best known for his lucid poetry collection Burning In Water Drowning in Flames
(select poems 1955-1973), and novels Factotum
(his debut novel in 1975) and Hollywood
(1989). He also wrote the screenplay for the film Barfly that starred Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway.
Since acquiring The Ecco Press in 1999, HarperCollins has churned out
several Bukowski books of poetry including Slouching Toward Nirvana in 2005.
