WORD:
Chacon to discuss new book ‘No One Is Illegal’
Edited Press Release
Justin Akers Chacon,
author of a bristling new book No One Is
Illegal, will discuss his work along side a panel that
includes several local activists on Friday evening at New College
Theater in San Francisco, Haymarket Books announced.
SF Bay Guardian Editor Tim Redmond,
Mexican American Political Association President Nativo Lopez and Renee Saucedo, director of La Raza
Centro Legal Day Labor Program are among the speakers at Chacon’s book
launch event.
Since the historic demonstrations of May 1, the topic of immigration
has become one of the central questions in American politics. The
release of No One Is Illegal by Mike
Davis and Justin Akers Chacon couldn’t come at a better time,
event organizers noted.
In addition to discussing Chacon’s book, there will be a talk about the
next steps for the immigrant rights movement. The talk will be
presented in English with Spanish translation available.
This event happens Friday, September 29 beginning at 7 pm at New
College Theater, located at 777 Valencia Street in San Francisco. The
event has a $5-10 recommended donation (No One Turned Away for Lack of
Funds).
Sponsored by Haymarket Books, Modern Times Bookstore, New College of
California, and KPFA 94.1 FM.
