WORD:
Surprise! Stephen Hawking to pen children’s book
Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking
has a new book on tap that will surprise followers of his best seller A
Brief History of Time. He’s teaming up with his daughter to
write a
children’s book about the universe that targets the same age group as
the Harry Potter series.
"It is a story for children, which explains the wonders of the
universe," said his daughter, Lucy,
a journalist and novelist. Hawking
dropped the literary bombshell during a speech in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
According to the Associated Press,
he also said that if we humans can avoid killing ourselves, we’ll have
space settlements on the Moon and Mars that can continue without
support from Earth in less than 40 years.
Hawking was previously represented by New York City-based Writers
House. It wasn’t immediately known which agent or firm would handle the
untitled book.
