WORD:
McCafferty’s latest novel ‘Fourth Comings’ captures angst of
mid-twenties
Megan McCafferty recently
launched a new novel, "Fourth Comings," from Crown Publishing to
continue her Jessica Darling series that‘s garnered praise for its
refreshing and frank look at young adulthood. This latest installment
follows Jessica, now a twentysomething woman trying to make it the
world just after college.
"Fourth Comings"
is told from Jessica’s hyper-observant and angst-ridden point of view,
a welcome divergence from today’s shallow portraits of life in the
mid-twenties many associate with Paris’
latest chihuahua adoption or Lindsay’s
cocaine adventures.
Instead, Crown Publishing says the novel captures the giddy highs and
depressing lows that Jessica must grapple with after college, an
experience many young men and women can relate to. McCafferty decided
to have all the action take place in the course of a single week.
"I wanted to capture the tumult of transition from being a student to
being in the so-called real world of adulthood," said McCafferty in a
press release. "By setting it in one week, it would all be more
intense."
In support of "Fourth Comings," McCafferty is hitting the road
throughout the East Coast during September and October, with her next
appearance slated for this Thursday, Sept. 6, at New York City’s
Borders at 10 Columbus Circle beginning at 6 pm.
Other appearances include:
Wednesday, Sept. 12, 7:30 pm, at Chester Country Books located at 975
Paoli Pike in West Chester, Pa.
Thursday, Sept. 13, 7 pm at Doylestown Bookshop, 16 S. Main Street in
Doylestown, Pa.
Saturday, Sept. 15, 1 pm at Watchung Booksellers, at 54 Fairfield
Street in Toms River, NJ.
