WORD:
Roca book ‘The Gleason’s Gym Total Body Workout for Women’ goes
paperback
Simon & Schuster imprint Fireside has issued the trade paperback
edition of professional boxing trainer Hector
Roca’s
popular fitness book ‘The Gleason’s Gym Total Body Workout for Women: A
four-week Head-to-Toe Makeover.’ Roca, who wrote the book with
Gleason’s Gym owner Bruce Silverglade,
gained worldwide recognition after training actress Hilary Swank for her role in hit
film 'Million Dollar Baby.'
Interest in
boxing as an alternative to the typical gym workout has grown among
women after Swank got in such tremendous condition in the Clint Eastwood-directed film about
the struggles of a woman boxer. Growth in so-called white-collar
clients has even fueled most of the revenues at New York City’s
legendary Gleason’s Gym, according to Silverglade.
In its publicity materials, publisher Fireside notes that boxing is not
only a dynamic fitness program that works out the entire body at one
time, but women training in the discipline will lose weight; build
lean, toned muscle; improve cardiovascular fitness; and feel physically
and emotionally stronger all at once.
The paperback edition of The Gleason’s Gym Total Body Workout for Women
comes after Fireside put out a second edition of the book in hardcover
back in May. Looking forward, Silverglade says he and Roca are
discussing doing a second book "for both genders (that)
will focus more on an advanced boxing workout."
As reported
previously, literary agents Barbara
Lowenstein and Eileen Cope
landed Roca and Silverglade a six figure deal for the book.
